OVERVIEW

Mallorca. An island surrounded by an aquamarine sea, where undiscovered rocky coves hide among the cliffs. Come with us and explore medieval villages and towns where fishermen made their living and where time appears to stand still. Terraced cliffs of dry stone walls where 700 year-old olive trees lend their shade to hardy sheep.

Charming coastal villages set in the Tramuntana Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Visit the island’s breadbasket where agriculture continues as it has for centuries.  Historic villages, estates and courtyards dot the countryside and are waiting for you to explore.

The olive harvest begins in October making it a very a special month for visiting the island. The weather has cooled and food lovers will feel at home in this culturally rich region, where you can find tasty Mediterranean delicacies from both local farms and waters: from fresh caught fish and seafood to traditional peasant dishes cooked with modern touches. Fragrant tomatoes and fresh pressed olive oil will accompany us at our dinner table. Viticulture on Mallorca predates the Roman occupation, come with us to sample some of the island’s best wines.

Learn about local crafts and meet the contemporary artists and artisans making a new name for themselves and for their island. Breathe in the history of a place which was once the principal crossroads of the Mediterranean. Close your eyes and let time stand still.

ABOUT ME

Originally from California, I’ve lived on this beautiful island since 1994. A graduate in Fine Arts from UCLA, I worked in graphic design in Santa Monica but always with a hand in the arts and crafts. I created “Made in Mallorca” visits to the island in 2012 in order to introduce visitors to Mallorca in a completely different way giving them the chance to discover local artists and artisans in their own environment. Along the way visitors have a chance to discover island culture through gastronomy, wine and seasonal festivals.

MEET THE FAMILY

Our home will be in a family owned possessió located in a natural setting at the foot of the rocky peaks of the Sierra de Tramuntana.

We will meet the family and enjoy their hospitality during our stay.

Our days will be filled with activities yet there will be time to slow down. Enjoy a mindful “nature bath” while we explore the coast of Llucalcari, a paradise of peace and relaxation.  Take the path of the olive grove and ascend stone terraces of fig, carob and ancient olive trees to a high pine forest.  Or take a quiet garden walk among fragrant orange, lemon, and almond trees.

What our guests say:

"While in Mallorca we had one day to spend on the island before boarding a boat for a week cruise around the island. Gina spent a full day with our group of 7 and I highly recommend her as a tour guide. We began with a walking tour of the Palma historic area and since she is a local, we were able to visit local businesses and go inside for an up close and personal visit. The city of Palma has magnificent historical sites and Gina provided excellent information on each. Next we had a driver pick us up for a tour of sites outside of Palma. We had lunch in Port de Soller, a beautiful seaside town. After lunch we were driven along the coast for beautiful views and visits to charming towns. Gina was knowledgable, very engaging and flexible and I highly recommend using her wonderful tour guide services while in Mallorca. - Ann Bedford
