Join us for Kilimanjaro – Lemosho Route, an enchanting trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro. As one of the newer routes, Lemosho is a superb choice for your climb. It is our preferred route due to its ideal balance of low crowds, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. We begin from the west, trekking in the fertile rainforest until we reach the wildflowers of the Heath ecosystem. Approaching from the west, we cross one of most beautiful areas on Kilimanjaro, the Shira Plateau, before traversing the mountain along the southern circuit.

The total time on the mountain is 7 days but we recommend hiking the 8-day Lemosho route as it provides plenty of time for acclimatization and it also keeps the daily hiking distances very reasonable.

The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower. Then the route traverses underneath Kilimanjaro’s Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. Descent is made via the Mweka route.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International airport or you will warmly be met by our representative and transfer you to your place of stay in Moshi for dinner and an overnight.

Drive to Tarangire National Park for lunch, in the afternoon game viewing in the Park. Tarangire is the third largest national park in Tanzania and best known for its largest herds of elephants in Africa and one of the most remaining ancient trees in the world with full of amazing stories, the gigantic Baobab Trees! Here you will be able to observe a diversity of wildlife magnetized by the Tarangire River that allows animals to play and lounge around.Dinner and overnight stay in Tarangire.

Embark on a full day game drive in Tarangire national park. The Park is the wilderness experience in its own right! Tarangire is much more wooded than Serengeti with Acacia Trees and mixed woodland dotting the African Savannah of the Park. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while the migratory Wildebeests, Zebras, Buffalos, Impalas, Gazelles, Hartebeests and Elands crowds the shrinking lagoons. It is also the one place in Tanzania where dry – country antelopes such as the stately Fringe – eared Oryx and peculiar spiral – horned Lesser Kudus can readily be observed. Dinner and an overnight stay in Tarangire.

Today you will have a leisurely drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, en route a visit to Iraqwi Cultural Village and a Coffee Farm. After lunch at Gibb’s Farm, continue to Ngorongoro for dinner and an overnight stay.

Rise up early in the morning and descend down into the famous Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing. Ngorongoro Crater is such a unique safari destination, a veritable “Garden of Eden”. With a large concentration of animals and short grasslands, game viewing in the crater or more appropriately a caldera, is excellent as animals are everywhere! The caldera is reputed to contain the highest density of carnivores in the world.

With picnic lunch, en route game drives to Serengeti National Park via Oldupai Gorge. Oldupai Gorge is one of the most important prehistoric and archaeological sites on Earth where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey made discoveries on human origins, “the Cradle of Mankind”. After viewing the gorge and listening to an incredible interpretive presentation and a visit to a Maasai Village, you will carry on with your journey and arrive in Serengeti for dinner and an overnight stay.

The following day you will have game drives at your leisure and track wildlife in the Mighty Serengeti. Serengeti is Tanzania’s most renowned national park and a home to the greatest concentrations of large mammals on the planet. The name Serengeti is derived from a Maasai word ‘Siringet’to meaning ‘endless plains’, and these rolling distances of short grass plains provide an exceptional landscape for wildlife viewing; your ultimate safari country– this is the highlight of your safari, you are in the total wilderness of Africa with game viewing around you to give you, your very own ‘Out of Africa’ experience! What our guests say:

I had an incredible trip with 6 friends hiking Kilimanjaro. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the staff and guides on the trail. The attention to details and personal safety far exceeded my expectations (our pulse and oxygen levels were measured twice a day). The views, physical challenges, and feeling of accomplishment with continue to be memorable! In addition, the guides were extremely personable and pointed out many points of interest along the climb. Our chef provided tasteful and plentiful meals. The porters were enthusiastic and took care of all our needs. The office staff answered all our questions and provided great guidelines to help us prepare for the trip. Every promise that was made to our group was fulfilled and all logistics were handled seamlessly. Again, don't miss out on an incredible adventure, this climb is well worth the investment of time and money and Uprise Africa Tours with Gloria Scola will get you to the top!
